1. They just don’t care. Apathy is contagious so if your cleaning company does’t seem to care, its time for them to go. There are cleaning companies out there that take their work very seriously and care about their customers. It is worth the time and effort to find such a company.

2. Inconsistency. You need to set the bar very high for this standard and you need to demand consistency. You need to set high expectations, communicate them to your cleaning service and do not settle for sporadic quality in your service. 

3. Training and Professionalism. Your cleaning service is a critical component to the success of your business. A cleaning service does’t just clean your toilets but employs a knowledge to properly clean and care for every part of your facility to provide safety and health for your employees and clients. Whether you are interested in green cleaning or just solid cleaning, a company that routinely trains their cleaners will be prepared to employ the most up to date products and procedures to benefit your facility. If your current cleaning service doesn’t consistently train their workers they will not provide the service you need and deserve.  

4. People problems. Cleaning services that cut corners to save money will ultimately need to be replaced to provide for a better service. Issues like improper screening, paying under the table and improper training will negatively impact your business. Also, when people are not valued in a cleaning service they tend not to care about the quality of their work and this leads to a high turn over which can increase security and service concerns.

5. Unresponsiveness. Whether your company simply doesn’t have a system in place to handle complaints or concerns or it just takes to long to hear back, it is unacceptable to have an unresponsive cleaning company.
